£25K FOR 2025
To continue making a real impact in the lives of people living in temporary accommodation, we have a bold goal—to raise £25,000 in 2025.
About Us
At More Than A Roof we work alongside individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness in our communities.
We look beyond the struggles and see potential. Working in partnership with The Housing Network– an organization that provides shelter to over 5,500 individuals and families each night- we have identified the gaps through which so many people fall and lose hope. But we believe no one should ever navigate this journey alone.
We have identified four areas in which we have the skills and partnerships necessary to transform lives; health & wellbeing, training & life skills, routes to employment and money matters.
And the best part? Our doors are open to everyone. We’ve removed the red tape— we keep the forms to a minimum and there are no rigid eligibility criteria to meet. We understand that when you’re in crisis, navigating a maze of bureaucracy can feel like an impossible task. That’s why we make sure our support is accessible to all who need it, providing a safety net for those who might otherwise slip through the cracks.
At More Than A Roof, we believe in the power of community and compassion. We’re here to ensure that no one feels alone, forgotten, or trapped by their circumstances.
What is Temporary Accommodation?
Temporary accommodation is a broad term that describes temporary housing for people who are homeless. It includes:
B&Bs or hotels
Private flat or house
A room in shared accommodation
Council or housing association property
Local authorities often do their best to provide temporary accommodation for those in priority need—families with children, pregnant women, the elderly, and the most vulnerable among us. But what happens when “temporary” becomes a long-term struggle?
Although they have a roof over their head, temporary accommodation is not a home. At the latest government count, the number of people living in temporary accommodation stood at 101,300 households -a figure that represents thousands of children, parents and individuals who wake up each day facing uncertainty and fear.
At More Than a Roof, we see the pain behind these numbers. We know that life in unsuitable accommodation can push people to the brink. What’s meant to be a short-term solution turns into a seemingly endless cycle of despair but we believe there’s hope. We believe in helping people break free from temporary accommodation and supporting them to rebuild their lives. With the right support, getting back on your feet doesn’t have to feel impossible.
Join us in our mission to provide not just a roof, but a real home—where individuals and families can find stability, security, and a chance for a brighter future.
